Description: Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) want to alert the Commission to a situation which has had a dramatic negative affect on 9-1-1 call answer service in Canada and around the globe. Between April and May of this year numerous PSAPs around the globe including those in Canada, experienced a substantial increase of accidental wireless 9-1-1 calls. PSAP participants from the CISC Emergency Services Working Group (ESWG) and NENA (National Emergency Number Association) Ontario initiated a survey which shows a dramatic increase of 22% (on average) in one month (April-May 2023) of accidental wireless 9-1-1 calls.
