Subject: Extension of timeline for recommendations requested from CRTC Interconnection Steering Committee (CISC) regarding network resiliency, outage mitigations and notification
This letter is in reference to the request received from the Chair of the CRTC Interconnection Steering Committee’s (CISC) Network Working Group (CISC NTWG) on 10 August 2023 to extend the timeline to submit a report with recommendations for measures to improve network resiliency and reduce the impacts of outages in relation to 9-1-1 and public alerting.
By letter dated 22 February 2023, Commission staff had requested the CISC to submit this report by 15 September 2023.
The Chair of the NTWG indicated that the CISC NTWG and Emergency Services Working Group (ESWG) are collaborating under the NTWG’s task identification form (TIF) 44 sub-working group to complete this task. He indicated that the current 15 September deadline does not provide the team working on TIF 44 sufficient time to complete the work and finalize the report for submission, particularly as ESWG members are also actively working on Canada’s transition towards Next-Generation (NG) 9-1-1. Therefore, the Chair of the NTWG requested to extend the timeline to complete this report to 30 November 2023.
Commission staff agrees with this extension and requests the CISC NTWG to complete and submit the report by 30 November 2023.
Yours Sincerely,
