CRTC Interconnection Steering Committee – Consensus item

On 11 December 2009, the Canadian Steering Committee on Numbering (CSCN) of the CRTC Interconnection Steering Committee (CISC) submitted the following consensus report to the CRTC:

The consensus report and guideline are available on the Commission's website at www.crtc.gc.ca.

The Commission has reviewed the above-noted consensus report and guideline and approves them with the following modification:
  The definition of competitive local exchange carrier (CLEC) in the Glossary section should be replaced with the following:
 

A Competitive Local Exchange Carrier (CLEC) is an entity that has registered as a CLEC with the CRTC and has satisfied the CLEC obligations that were initially established in Telecom Decision CRTC 97-8 and subsequently modified by various decisions. A CLEC may provide local exchange service via wireline and/or wireless technology.
