RE: Jeopardy Condition Suspension for Area Code Complex 819/873
Dear Kelly T. Walsh:
By letter and email dated 1 December 2021, the Canadian Numbering Administrator (CNA) advised CRTC staff that area code complex 819/873, is no longer in a jeopardy condition.
In its letter, the CNA indicated that it will:
- declare the suspension of the jeopardy condition in area code complex 819/873;
- stop enforcing the jeopardy condition plan located in Section 9 of the Planning Document, as approved by Telecom Decision CRTC 2021-393, dated 1 December 2021; and
- conduct Special –Numbering Resource Utilization Forecasts at the area code level of detail.
The CNA also indicated that it will restrict central office (CO) code assignments based on the July 2021 J-NRUF to ensure that area code complex 819/873 does not slip back into a jeopardy condition before the introduction of the new relief area code.
CRTC staff agrees with the CNA’s approach to suspending the jeopardy condition in area code complex 819/873 as noted in the foregoing.
Sincerely,
