Cell phone services

Our role is to protect the safety and interest of Canadians while maintaining high-quality cell phone services at affordable prices.

We strive to protect the safety and interests of Canadians by:

  • enforcing the Unsolicited Telecommunications Rules and the National Do Not Call List
  • regulating telecommunications providers, including major telephone companies
  • approving tariffs and certain agreements for the telecommunications sector
  • working to improve network reliability and how service providers report outages
  • encouraging competition in telecommunications markets to ensure that Canadians have a choice of innovative and affordable services

We generally do not regulate the retail rates for phone services.
