Form 267 - Gigabit transport network end-points Checklist

Download the PDF

  • If there have been changes or 3 years have elapsed since providing (1 Gbps or higher) transport network end-points to the CRTC or ISED, the transport network end-points are provided.
  • If you can break out fibre from an existing route, where a point of presence does not exist, to serve a nearby community and there have been changes or 3 years have elapsed since providing maps of your transport backbone network, maps are provided.
  • Maps are submitted in the preferred formats of MapInfo (6.5 or above) or ArcGIS.

If the above formats are unavailable and there is an alternative method you have available to submit the data, please contact the CRTC broadband Prime Analyst for guidance.

  • Transport network end-points (1 Gbps or higher) are provided in the grid in decimal degrees, preferably to 4 decimal places.

The information used to fill in the "ID" and "Name" is consistent with previous submissions, if any.

  • All transport network end-points in Canada have negative longitudes and positive latitudes.
  • An answer (“yes” or “no”) is provided for non-dedicated capacity.
  • An answer (“yes” or “no”) is provided for dedicated capacity.
  • Total capacity is reported in gigabits per second (with “-1” denoting “unknown”).
  • Remaining capacity is reported in gigabits per second (with “-1” denoting “unknown”).
  • An answer ("fibre" or "microwave" or other type as appropriate) is provided for the backhaul technology.
  • An answer (“yes” or “no” or “NA”) is provided for dark fibre.
  • An answer (“yes”) is provided for available to others where retail and/or wholesale customers may connect.

Alternatively, an answer (“no”) is provided for wireless towers, DSL Access Modules (DSLAMs), Cable Modem Termination Systems (CMTSs), and GPON Optical Line Terminals  (OLTs) where transport services are not available for sale.

  • An answer (“yes”) is provided for active equipment: devices that perform switching and/or channel management and/or multiplexing (which excludes active amplifiers, active repeaters and passive equipment).

Alternatively, an answer (“no”) is provided for non-active equipment such as splice points (which are optional to provide) that can be quickly and inexpensively activated.

  • An answer (“YE”) is provided for transport network end-points active at year-end (December 31 2023).

Alternatively, an answer (“MY”) is provided for transport network end-points active as of mid-year.

  • All the fields in the grid are filled in.
  • Prior to submitting, current data is compared to previously submitted data.
  • Any locations that were dropped from service are noted in the comments.
  • If applicable, confidentiality claims are included in the comments.
  • Company brand or operating name and consumer-focused website address are provided.
  • A copy of your submission has been saved in your records for future reference. DCS does not provide access to previous submissions after the collection period has closed.
