- Traffic shaping is a practice of traffic management used to insure a certain level of performance, and quality of service. Traffic shaping may be used to limit bursty traffic in general or to limit undesired traffic such as spam or peer-to-peer downloads. (Source: PC Mag Encyclopedia )
