spear-phishing
- Definition
- A type of phishing attack that focuses on a single user or department within an organization, addressed apparently from someone within the company in a position of trust and requesting information such as login IDs and passwords. Once one employee falls for the scheme and divulges sensitive information, it can be used to gain entry into secured networks. (Sources: Termium; PC Mag Encyclopedia)
