Re:  Review of the regulatory requirements to provide information to customers using various means of communications in light of Telecom Decision 2008-34, Telecom Public Notice CRTC 2008-7 - Survey filed by the Yellow Pages Group - Change in procedure

Dear Sir or Madam:

In a letter dated 22 August 2008, Commission staff requested the Yellow Pages Group (YPG) to file with the Commission a copy of the telephone survey conducted by Ad Hoc Research on behalf of YPG on the usage of various sections of telephone directories provided by incumbent local exchange carriers (the survey) and related material.  This material was to be filed with the Commission, copying all other parties, by Thursday, 28 August, 2008.

On Tuesday, 2 September 2008, YPG filed a copy of the full survey with the Commission, stating in a cover letter that the survey was being filed in confidence pursuant to section 39 of the Telecommunications Act.  YPG also filed an abridged copy of the survey extracting the portions related to the use of Intro Pages, a description of the survey methodology, and the text of the questions related to the Intro Pages to be placed on the public record.  Commission staff understands that a copy of the letter designating the full survey as confidential and the abridged documents were emailed to all interested parties on Tuesday, 2 September 2008.

In light of the late filing, Commission staff extends the deadline by which parties may file reply comments parties from Friday, 12 September 2008 to Tuesday, 16 September, 2008. These comments are to be limited to the material filed by YPG in response to the letter dated 22 August 2008 with the Commission, and must be copied to all other parties.  Commission staff notes that where a document is to be filed or served by a specific date, the document must be actually received, not merely sent, by that date.

Yours sincerely,

John Macri
Director, Telecom Policy
