Application by the CANADIAN BROADCASTING CORPORATION (CBC) relating to television station CBKT Regina. |
The licensee proposes to amend its licence in order to add transmitters at Cypress Hills, Ponteix and Shaunavon in order to offer the programming of CBKT Regina. |
The three transmitters will operate on channels 2, 3 and 7 with an effective radiated power of 2,450, 10,500 and 4,500 watts respectively. |
The CBC presently holds a radiocommunication distribution undertaking licence, expiring on 31 August 2002, which includes three transmitters, one at each of the above-noted localities. These transmitters are presently authorized to rebroadcast the programming of CJFB-TV Swift Current, Saskatchewan, a CBC affiliated station, that was licensed to Swift Current Telecasting Co. Ltd. |
The Commission points out that in Decision CRTC 2002-144, dated 31 May 2002, it revoked the licence of CJFB-TV after being informed by the licensee that their operation will cease as of 31 May 2002. |
As some of the localities, affected by the closing of CJFB-TV's operation, were left without any reception of the CBC English-language Television Network Service, the CBC made an application to add transmitters at Riverhurst and Swift Current to rebroadcast the programming of CBKT Regina. This application was approved in Decision CRTC 2002-145, dated 31 May 2002. |
In view of the above, CBC is now filing this application in order to have retransmitters so to maintain the CBC English-language Television Network Service to the residents of Cypress Hills, Ponteix and Shaunavon. |
