CBKT Regina - Transmitters at Riverhurst and Swift Current

1.

The Commission approves the application by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) to amend the broadcasting licence for the television programming undertaking CBKT Regina, in order to operate new transmitters at Riverhurst and Swift Current.

The CBC currently provides its English-language television network service to residents of these communities by means of a CBC-affiliated television programming undertaking consisting of CJFB-TV Swift Current and its transmitters CJFB-TV-1 Eastend, CJFB-TV-3 Riverhurst and CJFB-TV-2 Val Marie. Swift Current Telecasting Co. Ltd., the licensee of CJFB-TV and its transmitters, has indicated that it will cease operation of the undertaking as of 31 May 2002.

3.

The CBC submitted this application in order to maintain its service in Riverhurst and Swift Current. The CBC stated that it does not need to operate transmitters at Eastend and Val Marie because service in these communities is already provided by its existing transmitters.

The Commission did not receive any interventions in connection with this application.
