 The Commission will hold a public hearing commencing on 20 July 1998, at the Conference Centre, Portage IV, 140 Promenade du Portage, Hull, Quebec, to consider the following:

 Application (199802161) by the TVA GROUP INC. to amend the broadcasting licence of the French-language television network TVA in order to acquire a national network status.

 The applicant also requests that its programming service be distributed on a mandatory basis as part of the basic service by Class 1 and 2 licensees pursuant to subsection 17(5) of the Broadcasting Distribution Regulations, by DTH distribution undertakings, and also possibly by Class 3 licensees whose licensed area is at least 5% francophone.

 The applicant proposes to provide a 24 hour programming service, 7 days a week. The service would give location and directions to the Admiralty House Museum, exhibit descriptions, parking information and hours of operation and general information about the City of Mount Pearl.

a)  to amend the broadcasting licence of the (radio) programming undertaking CBLA-FM Toronto, by deleting the transmitter CBCL-FM London from the CBLA-FM licence; and

b)  for a broadcasting licence to carry on an English-language FM (radio) programming undertaking at London, operating on a frequency of 93.5 MHz (channel 228C1) with an effective radiated power of 100,000 watts.

 While the new FM station will continue to receive much of its programming from CBLA-FM (formerly CBL Toronto), the Corporation states that it "undertakes to broadcast a minimum of 2 hours 30 minutes of local programming per broadcast week". This local programming will include news, weather and road reports, essential survival information and community announcement of particular interest to listeners in the London area.
