In Decision CRTC 92-746 of 26 October 1992, the licence of this undertaking was renewed for a term of two years, until 31 August 1995, because of interventions received concerning the quality of the service provided by the licensee. The Commission issued an administrative licence renewal running from 1 September 1995 to 31 August 1996.
|
During the present term of the licence, the Commission received further subscriber complaints about the poor quality of the service. At the request of the Commission, the Department of Industry conducted, in September 1995, an evaluation of the network which revealed important shortcomings concerning the maintenance of the network resulting in a "(translation)... general decline in the quality of the channels as a whole". The Department of Industry concluded in its report "(translation)... considering the appalling condition of the cable system we agreed on and demanded" certains changes to be made within the following 30 days. At the hearing, the Commission may review why the licence of this undertaking should be renewed and could examine by what other means the residents of this area could be served.
