Decision CRTC 96-354
Câblo Distribution G. inc.
Gaspé, Gaspé-Harbour, York Centre, Wakeham, Sandy Beach, Haldimand, Sunny Bank, Pointe-Navarre, Sainte-Marjorique, Penouille, Cap-aux-Os, D'Aiguillon, Douglastown and part of the concession roads surrounding Douglastown, Quebec - 952323400
Licence renewal
Following Public Notice CRTC 1996-56 dated 17 April 1996, the Commission renews the licence held by Câblo Distribution G. inc., for the cable distribution undertaking serving the above-noted localities, from 1 September 1996 to 31 August 2003.
The operation of this undertaking is regulated pursuant to Parts I, III and IV of the Cable Television Regulations, 1986 (the regulations) and the licence will be subject to the conditions in effect under the current licence, as well as to those conditions specified in this decision and in the licence to be issued.
The Commission approves the licensee's request to be relieved, by condition of licence, of the requirement of paragraph 22(1)(a) of the regulations that it distribute the priority services of CBGAT-20 (CBC) and CHAU-TV-5 (TVA) Percé. The licensee will distribute instead CBMT (CBC) and CIVM-TV (SRTQ) Montréal, received via satellite.
Consistent with Decision CRTC 92-473, the licensee is relieved, by condition of licence, of the requirement of paragraph 22(1)(a) of the regulations that it distribute the priority local services of CIVK-TV-3 (SRTQ) and CBVG-TV (CBC) Gaspé.
An intervention was received from TVOntario objecting to the distribution of TFO, TVOntario's educational television programming service, received via satellite. In its reply to the intervention, the licensee indicated that it ceased distribution of this service in 1995, following a similar intervention from TVOntario.
In Public Notice CRTC 1992-59 dated 1 September 1992 and entitled "Imple-mentation of an Employment Equity Policy", the Commission announced that the employment equity practices of broadcasters would be subject to examination by the Commission. In this regard, the Commission encourages the licensee to consider employment equity issues in its hiring practices and in all other aspects of its management of human resources.
This decision is to be appended to the licence.
