Decision

Ottawa, 7 June 1988
Decision CRTC 88-381
The Alberta Educational Communications Corporation (ACCESS)
Edmonton, Alberta -880453600
Pursuant to Public Notice CRTC 1988-66 dated 14 April 1988 the Commission approves the application to amend the broadcasting licence for the new television station in Edmonton authorized in Decision CRTC 86-1162 dated 1 December 1986, by deleting the existing condition of licence relating to the construction and operation of the undertaking and substituting therefor:
It is a condition of licence that construction of the undertaking be completed and the undertaking be in operation on or before 15 July 1989.
In approving this second extension, the Commission has taken into account that the licensee has experienced financial difficulties since the station was licensed and that it is not likely to receive additional provincial grants before 15 July 1988, the current deadline for implementation. The Commission notes that in Decision CRTC 88-382 of today's date it has approved an application by ACCESS seeking an extension of the implementation date for its Calgary station until 15 July 1989. The licence for the Calgary station expires 31 August 1989 and, accordingly, the Commission will review the licensee's progress towards implementation of its authority for both the Calgary and Edmonton stations at the time of licence renewal of the Calgary undertaking.

Secretary General
