Decision

Ottawa, 7 June 1988
Decision CRTC 88-382
The Alberta Educational Communications Corporation (ACCESS)
Calgary, Alberta -880452800
Pursuant to Public Notice CRTC 1988-66 dated 14 April 1988, the Commission approves the application to amend the broadcasting licence for the new television station in Calgary authorized in Decision CRTC 84-8 dated 9 January 1984, by deleting the existing condition of licence relating to the construction and operation of the undertaking and substituting therefor:
It is a condition of licence that construction of the undertaking be completed and the undertaking be in operation on or before 15 July 1989.
In approving this extension, the Commission has taken into account that the licensee has experienced financial difficulties since the station was licensed and that it is not likely to receive additional provincial grants before 15 July 1988, the current deadline for implementation. It notes, however, that this is the fourth request for an extension of the implementation deadline set out in Decision CRTC 84-8 and that the licence will expire on 31 August 1989. Accordingly, the Commission will review the licensee's progress towards implementation of its authority at the time of licence renewal.

Secretary General
