Decision

Ottawa, 1 December 1986
Decision CRTC 86-1162
The Alberta Educational Communications Corporation
Edmonton, Alberta - 861261600
Following a Public Hearing in Winnipeg on 9 September 1986, the Commission approves the application for a broadcasting licence for an English-language television station at Edmonton, operating on channel 9 with an effective radiated power of 9,000 watts, to rebroadcast the programs of the Access Network Educational Television Service.
The Commission will issue a licence expiring 30 September 1990 to The Alberta Educational Communications Corporation, subject to the conditions specified in this decision and in the licence to be issued.
It is a condition of this licence that construction of the station be completed and that it be in operation within twelve months of the date of this decision or such further period as the Commission may, upon receipt of a request for extension before the expiry of the said twelve months, deem appropriate under the circumstances.
The Commission acknowledges the intervention by Gerry Gibeault, M.L.A. for Edmonton Mill Woods, expressing interest in the broadcast coverage of the debates of the Provincial Legislature by this new station.
Fernand Bélisle
Secretary General
