Pursuant to section 62 of the Telecommunications Act (the Act), Parts 1 and 4 of the CRTC Rules of Practice and Procedure (the Rules), and Telecom Information Bulletin CRTC 2011-214, Revised guidelines for review and vary applications (Bulletin 2011-214), Bell Aliant Regional Communications, Limited Partnership (Bell Aliant) and Bell Canada (collectively, the Companies), are requesting the Commission to review and vary certain sections of Telecom Regulatory Policy CRTC 2012-83, Regulatory measure associated with single-line inside wire services provided by incumbent local exchange carriers to customers with no jack-ended demarcation device, dated 9 February 2012 (TRP 2012-83). Specifically, the Companies are requesting that the Commission rescind the requirement to install a jack-ended demarcation device following the provision of a free diagnostic service to a single-line inside wire customer during that same visit to the customer’s premises, as outlined in paragraphs 23 and 25 of TRP 2012-83.
