Providing Content in Canada's Official Languages

Please note that the Official Languages Act requires that government publications be available in both official languages.

In order to meet some of the requirements under this Act, the Commission's transcripts will therefore be bilingual as to their covers, the listing of CRTC members and staff attending the hearings, and the table of contents.

However, the aforementioned publication is the recorded verbatim transcript and, as such, is transcribed in either of the official languages, depending on the language spoken by the participant at the hearing.

Opening of Hearing at 11:00 a.m.

Chair: Order please.

Good morning ladies and gentlemen and welcome to this hearing of the Commission. My name is Joanne T. Levy, Commissioner for Manitoba and Saskatchewan and I will chair this hearing. With me on the panel are my colleagues, Ellen Desmond, Commissioner for Atlantic Region and Nunavut, and Nirmala Naidoo, Commissioner for Alberta and the Northwest Territories. Sylvie Lévesque will be the Hearing Secretary and Christina Maheux will be our Legal Counsel. Madam Secretary, what is the item on the agenda for today?

Secretary: Thank you Madam Chair.

On 9 December 2020, the Commission published Broadcasting Notice of Consultation CRTC 2020-396. The application, referenced in this Notice, is being considered today without the appearance of the party.

The Commission did not receive any interventions for this application.

Thank you Madam Chair.

Chair: Thank you. Any questions from the panel members?

Ellen Desmond: No questions Madam Chair.

Nirmala Naidoo: No questions Madam Chair.

Chair: I should emphasize that the matter that forms part of the Agenda will be given full consideration by the hearing panel and a decision will be released in due course after consultation with the full Commission. This therefore concludes today's hearing. I wish to thank my colleagues, Legal Counsel and the Hearing Secretary for their assistance. The hearing is now adjourned.

Secretary: Merci, Madame la Présidente.

The hearing adjourned at 11:10 a.m.
