Providing Content in Canada's Official Languages

Please note that the Official Languages Act requires that government publications be available in both official languages.

In order to meet some of the requirements under this Act, the Commission's transcripts will therefore be bilingual as to their covers, the listing of CRTC members and staff attending the hearings, and the table of contents.

However, the aforementioned publication is the recorded verbatim transcript and, as such, is transcribed in either of the official languages, depending on the language spoken by the participant at the hearing.

Chairperson: Order please.

Good morning ladies and gentlemen and welcome to this hearing of the Commission. My name is Ian Scott, Chairperson and Chief Executive Officer and I will chair this hearing. With me on the panel are my colleagues, Christopher MacDonald, Commissioner for Atlantic Region and Nunavut, and Monique Lafontaine, Commissioner for Ontario. Lynda Roy will be the Hearing Secretary and Megan Maloney and Alexander Ly will be our Legal Counsels. Madame la secrétaire, what are the items on the Agenda today?

Secretary: Thank you Mr. Chairman.

On 12 March 2019, the Commission published Broadcasting Notice of Consultation CRTC 2019-72. The Commission also published 2019-72-1 on 28 March 2019. The applications referenced in this notice are being considered today without the appearance of the parties.

The Commission has received interventions for some of the applications and they have been placed on the public file for this hearing.

Thank you Mr. Chairman.

Chairperson: Thank you. Any questions from the panel members?

Christopher MacDonald:No questions Mr. Chairman.

Monique Lafontaine: No questions Mr. Chairman.

Chairperson: … and I have no questions. I should emphasize that the matters that form part of the Agenda will be given full consideration by the hearing panel and decisions will be released in due course after consultation with the full Commission. This therefore concludes today's hearing. I wish to thank my colleagues, Legal Counsels and the Hearing Secretary for their assistance. The hearing is now adjourned.

Secretary: Thank you Mr. Chairman.
