Providing Content in Canada's Official Languages

Please note that the Official Languages Act requires that government publications be available in both official languages.

In order to meet some of the requirements under this Act, the Commission's transcripts will therefore be bilingual as to their covers, the listing of CRTC members and staff attending the hearings, and the table of contents.

However, the aforementioned publication is the recorded verbatim transcript and, as such, is transcribed in either of the official languages, depending on the language spoken by the participant at the hearing.

Chair: Order please.

Good morning ladies and gentlemen and welcome to this hearing of the Commission. My name is Candice Molnar, Commissioner of the CRTC for Manitoba and Saskatchewan and I will chair this hearing. With me on the panel are my colleagues, Jean-Pierre Blais, Chairman of the CRTC and Yves Dupras, Commissioner for Quebec. Lara Sun will be the Hearing Secretary and Alexander Ly will be our Legal Counsel. Madam Secretary, what are the items on the agenda for today?

Secretary: Thank you Madam Chair.

On 10 May 2016, the Commission published Broadcasting Notice of Consultation CRTC 2016-176. The applications referenced in this notice are being considered today without the appearance of the parties.

The Commission has received interventions for some of the applications and they have been placed on the public file for this hearing.

Thank you Madam Chair.

Chair: Thank you. Any questions from the panel members?

Jean-Pierre Blais: No questions Madam Chair.

Yves Dupras: No questions Madam Chair.

Chair: Thank you. I should emphasize that the matters that form part of the agenda will be given full consideration by the hearing panel and decisions will be released in due course after consultation with the full Commission. This therefore concludes today's hearing. I wish to thank my colleagues, Legal Counsel and the Hearing Secretary for their assistance. The hearing is now adjourned.

Secretary: Thank you Madam Chair.

The hearing adjourned at 11:15 a.m.
