Providing Content in Canada's Official Languages
Please note that the Official Languages Act requires that government publications be available in both official languages.
In order to meet some of the requirements under this Act, the Commission's transcripts will therefore be bilingual as to their covers, the listing of CRTC members and staff attending the hearings, and the table of contents.
However, the aforementioned publication is the recorded verbatim transcript and, as such, is transcribed in either of the official languages, depending on the language spoken by the participant at the hearing.

----------

--- Opening of Public Hearing at 8:45 A.M.
CHAIR: Order please, à l'ordre s'il vous plaît.
Good morning ladies and gentlemen and welcome to this public hearing of the Commission. With me on the panel are my colleagues, Joan Pennefather and Helen del Val. I should emphasize that the matter that form part of the agenda will be given full consideration by the hearing panel and a decision will be released in due course after consultation with the Commission. Mrs. Secretary, what is the item on the agenda for today?
SECRETARY: Thank you, Mr. Chair.
On 2 and 7 March 2006, the Commission published Broadcasting Notices of Public Hearing 2006-3 and 2006-3-1, indicating that it intended to consider this item (namely, the application of Astral Broadcasting Group Inc., no. 2005‑1459‑8), amongst a number of other items, subject to interventions, during the non-appearing phase of the public hearing.
The Commission has received interventions for this application and they have been placed on the public file for this public hearing. By letter dated 21 April 2006, the Commission determined that this item would be considered during the non-appearance phase of the public hearing. Furthermore, by letter dated 26 April 2006, the Commission permitted two interveners, SARTEC and UDA, to file additional information by 3 May 2006 in response to the Applicant's Reply to interventions, and the Applicant, Astral, has been given until 10 May 2006 to file a response to such additional information. This information will then be available to the public in the Commission's Examination Room.
Thank you, Mr. Chair.
CHAIR: Any questions from the panel members?
MS. Pennefather: No questions, Mr. Chair.
MRS. del Val: No questions, Mr. Chair.
CHAIR: Thank you, Mrs. Secretary. This, therefore, concludes today's public hearing. I wish to thank my colleagues and Legal Counsel for their assistance. The hearing is now adjourned.
SECRETARY: Thank you, Mr. Chair.
--- The hearing adjourned at 9:00 A.M.
