CHQT Edmonton – Revocation of licence
- Corus Radio Inc. has requested the revocation, effective 31 October 2024, of its broadcasting licence for the English-language commercial AM radio programming undertaking CHQT Edmonton, Alberta, last renewed in Various radio programming undertakings – Administrative renewals, Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2023-230, 28 July 2023.
- This request comes after a reorganization of the licensee’s Edmonton stations. The broadcaster swapped the call signs of its Edmonton stations CHED and CHQT in October 2024. CHQT became 630 KHz and CHED moved its programming to 880 KHz. CHQT (630AM) ceased broadcasting on 31 October 2024.
- Given the licensee’s request and pursuant to paragraph 9(1)(f) and subsection 24(1) of the Broadcasting Act, the Commission revokes the broadcasting licence issued to Corus Radio Inc. for the above-mentioned undertaking.
