Various radio programming undertakings – Administrative renewals
- The Commission renews the broadcasting licences for the radio programming undertakings and their transmitters set out in Appendix 1 to this decision from 1 September 2024 to 31 August 2026, and the radio programming undertakings and their transmitters set out in Appendix 2 to this decision from 1 September 2025 to 31 August 2026.
- Pursuant to subsections 49(1) and 50(2) of the Online Streaming Act, which made a certain number of amendments to the Broadcasting Act when it came into force on 27 April 2023, obligations that previously existed as conditions of licence are now deemed to be conditions imposed under an order made pursuant to section 9.1 of the new Broadcasting Act, or subsection 11.1(2) in the case of expenditure requirements. As such, the conditions of licence for these licensees became conditions of service and continue to apply to the licensees.
- With the coming into force of certain amendments to the Broadcasting Act, this additional time will allow the Commission to develop the frameworks necessary to implement those changes that will apply going forward.
- This decision does not dispose of any issue that may arise with respect to the renewal of these licences, including any non-compliance issues. The Commission will consider the renewal of these licences at a later date, and interested persons will have an opportunity to comment at the appropriate time.
