Subject: Request for Information regarding Third-Party Call Centres’ Handling of Official Languages - Extension Request by Vidéotron

On 12 October 2023, Commission staff issued a request for information (RFI) regarding the provision of services in both official languages at third-party call centres. The established deadline for the responses is 14 November 2023.

On 7 November 2023, Commission staff found a typographical error in the email it had addressed to Vidéotron, which resulted in Vidéotron not receiving the RFI letter when it was originally circulated. Vidéotron subsequently stated that it will not be able to gather all the necessary information and produce complete responses to the RFI by 14 November 2023. As a result, Vidéotron requested an extension to the response deadline to 28 November 2023.

Commission staff acknowledges that Vidéotron's inability to file a response to the RFI by the 14 November 2023 deadline was due to circumstances outside of its control and no fault of its own. Staff is satisfied that extending the deadline for Vidéotron only is reasonable in the circumstances, as it will allow Vidéotron a similar amount of time as the other recipients to prepare and file its response. As such, staff extends the deadline by which Vidéotron is to file its responses to 28 November 2023.

Yours Sincerely,
