Re: Request by FRPC AND PIAC to reconsider the approach to applications by Bell Media, Corus, Québecor and Rogers

Ms. Auer, Mr. Lawford,

On 1 July 2023, the Commission received a request, filed jointly by the Forum for Research and Policy in Communications (FRPC) and the Public Interest Advocacy Centre (PIAC), asking the Commission to suspend consideration of the following Part 1 Applications: 2023-0379-1 and 2023-0380-9 (Bell Media Inc.), 2022-0946-0 and 2023-0300-9 (Corus Entertainment Inc.), 2022-0986-6 and 2023-0307-2 (Groupe TVA Inc.) and 2023-0373-3 (Rogers Media Inc.).  FRPC and PIAC suggested, amongst other things, to consolidate these applications into a single proceeding that addresses the concerns of the applicants and other interested parties. The procedural request has been added to the public record of all seven applications.

The Commission will accept comments on the procedural request until 17 July 2023 (5pm EDT), and replies from FRPC and PIAC until 19 July 2023 (5pm EDT).

The Commission requires the comments to be submitted electronically by using the secured service “My CRTC Account” (Partner Log In or GCKey)”.

Sincerely,
