RE: SDI Telecom application dated 31 August 2022 (Procedural request) regarding PAL disconnection Notice from Bell and Urgent relief request

Dear Richard Seni and Phillippe Gauvin,

On 31 August 2022, the Commission received an application from SDI Telecom (SDI), requesting that the Commission urgently order Bell Canada (Bell) not to disconnect its pay telephone services lines (application attached).

Commission staff notes that this application is related to SDI’s open Part 1 application, dated 31 August 2021, requesting the Commission to order Bell and Rogers Communication Canada Inc. to pay SDI's outstanding bills within 30 days and for the Commission to implement a new flat-rate compensation regime (File 8650-S191-202107656).

Given that SDI is a self-represented litigant and this request is for urgent relief related to an open Part 1 application, Commission staff will consider this request to be a procedural request within the scope of the Part 1 application. In view of the above, Commission staff considers it appropriate to afford Bell an opportunity to respond to SDI’s request. As such, Bell may file an answer with the Commission by no later than 12 September 2022, serving a copy upon SDI.

SDI may file a reply with the Commission by no later than 19 September 2022, serving a copy upon Bell.

Where a document is to be filed or served by a specific date, the document must be actually received, not merely sent, by that date. The Commission requires the response or other documents to be submitted electronically by using the secured service “My CRTC Account” (Partner Log In or GCKey) and filling the “Telecom Cover page” located on this web page.

Sincerely,
