Subject: Telecom Notice of Consultation CRTC 2020-178 – Response to CNSDB procedural request
Dear Madam/Sir:
In a 23 November 2021 request for information, Footnote1 Commission staff asked that parties to the above-mentioned proceeding Footnote2 respond to requests for information by no later than 10 December 2021 and added that interveners may comment on those responses by no later than 17 December 2021. Following a 13 December 2021 procedural request by the Canada Deaf Grassroots Movement (CDGM), Commission staff granted an extension of the deadline for interveners to file comments on those responses to 10 January 2022. Footnote3
In a procedural request dated 7 January 2022, the Canadian National Society of the Deaf-Blind, Inc. (CNSDB) submitted that they faced specific challenges in light of the limited availability of intervenor personnel caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. CNSDB argued that they would need more time, as intervenor resources have to be obtained to assist in reading the information and in writing and editing the comments. CNSDB requested an extension of the deadline to file comments on the responses to 17 January 2022.
Given the specific challenges faced by CNSDB in this situation, Commission staff is of the view that the request is reasonable and grants an extension of the deadline for CNSDB to file comments on the responses to 17 January 2022.
