Subject: Telecom Notice of Consultation CRTC 2020-178 – Response to CDGM procedural request and new deadline for comments
In a 23 November 2021 request for information,) Footnote1 Commission staff asked that parties to the above-mentioned proceeding) Footnote2 respond to requests for information by no later than 10 December 2021 and added that interveners may comment on those responses by no later than 17 December 2021.
On 13 December 2021, the Canada Deaf Grassroots Movement (CDGM) filed a procedural request asking for an extension on the comment deadline to 7 January 2022. The CDGM submitted that their members are preparing their comments on their own time and would need more time to fully consider the responses.
On 14 December 2021, the Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association (CWTA) filed a letter supporting CDGM’s request; it submitted that the extension should be granted until 10 January 2022 and apply to all parties. On the same date, the DHH Coalition) Footnote3 filed a letter supporting the CDGM and the CWTA’s requests.
Given the extent of the RFI responses filed, staff is of the view that the request is reasonable and grants an extension of the deadline for interveners to file comments on those responses to 10 January 2022.
