Broadband Fund – Third call for applications – Changes to procedure

Revised deadline for submission of interventions: 16 May 2023 at 17:00, Pacific Standard Time

On 20 December 2022, SSi Micro Ltd., doing business as SSi Canada (SSi), filed a letter in which the company requested that the Commission extend the deadline for the submission of applications for the third call of the Broadband Fund (the deadline for the submission of applications) from 18 April 2023 to 16 May 2023. SSi noted in support of its request that the original deadline for the submission of applications coincided with the second day of the public hearing for the proceeding initiated by Telecom Notice of Consultation 2022-147.
The Council of Yukon First Nations, First Nation of Na-Cho Nyak Dun, Kluane First Nation, Public Interest Advocacy Centre, Rogers Communications Canada Inc., Taku River Tlingit First Nation, and Yukon Utilities Consumers’ Group also filed letters or submitted emails that supported SSi’s request or requested extending the deadline for the submission of applications by up to nine weeks.
The Commission considers that extending the deadline for the submission of applications would provide potential applicants with sufficient time to effectively participate in the public hearing initiated by Telecom Notice of Consultation 2022-147 and submit applications in response to the third call for applications. Accordingly, the Commission hereby revises the deadline for the submission of applications, as set out in Telecom Notice of Consultation 2022-325, from 18 April 2023 to 16 May 2023 at 17:00, Pacific Standard Time.
