Re: Request for information with respect to the application for deferral account funding of Broadcast Advocacy Group/Philanthropolis in the proceeding initiated by Telecom and Broadcasting Notice of Consultation CRTC 2020-124

The Commission is in receipt of a letter, dated 20 January 2021, from Philanthropolis in response to a request for information (RFI) related to the above-noted application.

That letter has not been added to the public record of the proceeding.

As set out in section 39 of the Telecommunications Act (the Act) and in Broadcasting and Telecom Information Bulletin CRTC 2010-961Procedures for filing confidential information and requesting its disclosure in Commission proceedings (the Information Bulletin), there are specific procedures that are to be followed by parties seeking to designate information filed with the Commission as confidential.

For instance, as described in the Act and the Information Bulletin, a person designating information as confidential must provide a detailed explanation why the relevant information qualifies for designation as confidential and why its disclosure would not be in the public interest, including how any specific direct harm that would likely result from the disclosure would outweigh the public interest in disclosure.

Furthermore, a person designating information as confidential must either file an abridged version of the document omitting only the information designated as confidential or provide reasons why an abridged version cannot be filed.

If these procedures are not followed, it may not be possible for the Commission to consider Philanthropolis’ RFI response. Accordingly, please file the response in line with the applicable procedures.

Further, it is requested that your response and any subsequent correspondence with the Commission be submitted consistent with the applicable rules and by using the secured service “My CRTC Account” (Partner Log In or GCKey) while selecting the appropriate cover page or form from the list located on this web page. Also on this web page you will find information on the submission of documents to the Commission “Submitting applications and other documents to the CRTC using My CRTC Account.”

Philanthropolis is requested to provide its response, and any supporting information by 1 February 2021.

A copy of this letter and all related correspondence will be added to the record of the proceeding.

Sincerely,

Original signed by
