RE: Telecom Notice of Consultation 2019-406, as modified by Telecom Notice of Consultation 2019-406-1 and 2019-406-2 – Amendment to procedural dates
On 10 December 2019, the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) published Telecom Notice of Consultation 2019-406 (the notice), Call for comments regarding potential barriers to the deployment of broadband-capable networks in underserved areas in Canada. The deadline for interventions was modified by Telecom Notice of Consultation 2019-406-1 (TNC 2019-406-1), and again in Telecom Notice of Consultation 2019-406-2 (TNC 2019-406-2).
In TNC 2019-406-2, the Commission also suspended the subsequent procedural dates due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Commission indicated that further processes would be announced via procedural letters or updates to the notice.
- Deadline for replies to interventions: 10 July 2020
- Request for information
Parties to this proceeding will have the opportunity to propose requests for information to further the Commission’s understanding of the relevant issues. These proposals, the requests for information, and the responses that are ultimately filed will form part of the record of this proceeding. Therefore, parties that wish to request information from other parties may file their proposed questions with the Commission by 14 August 2020.
These proposed questions will be taken into account in the formulation of requests for information. Commission staff will issue, by letter, requests for information (which may include questions proposed by parties to this proceeding) by 31 August 2020.
- Deadline for responses to requests for information: 12 October 2020
- Deadline for proposed requests for further responses to requests for information and requests for public disclosure of confidential information: 30 October 2020
The above deadlines were established while keeping in mind that the COVID-19 pandemic continues to have impacts on the parties’ resources, while also considering the importance of moving forward as expeditiously as possible in light on the vital importance of the issues being raised in this proceeding.
Further processes will be announced via procedural letters and/or updates to the notice at future dates.
