Re: Broadcasting application 2017-0604-5 – CBC - CBU Vancouver, BC

Dear Ms. Kirshenblatt,

This is in reference to the above-noted application by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) for a technical amendment to change the authorized service contours of the English-language AM radio programming undertaking CBU Vancouver.

In order to pursue the analysis of this application, please address the following.

Procedural Request

Contour Maps & Population Estimates

  1. Please submit clearly legible contour maps, in colour if available, of the following:
    • A comparative map with the existing and proposed 15 mV/m and 5 mV/m contours of CBU Vancouver and the existing 3 mV/M and 0.5 mV/m contours of CBU-2-FM Vancouver.

    These maps must be filed in one of the following formats:

    • standard image (e.g., GIF, JPEG, TIFF, BMP);
    • PDF file format;Footnote1
    • GIS-compatible file format, electronically or on a CD-ROM.Footnote2
  2. Please provide quantitative estimates of the population within the existing and proposed 15 mV/m and 5 mV/m contours of CBU Vancouver and the existing 3 mV/M and 0.5 mV/m contours of CBU-2-FM Vancouver.
  3. Please provide quantitative estimates of the overlapping population within the existing and proposed 15 mV/m and 5 mV/m contours of CBU Vancouver and the existing 3 mV/M and 0.5 mV/m contours of CBU-2-FM Vancouver.

The information requested herein should be submitted to the Commission by no later than 16 October 2017, failing which, the application may be returned to be completed and resubmitted with the Commission should the CBC wish to pursue this proposal.

Please note that the intervention period for this proceeding will be re-opened for additional comments from all parties with respect to the new information only, as follows:

Interested persons have until 26 October 2017 to submit interventions relating to the new information.

The CBC will have until 31 October 2017 to reply to any interventions.
