RE: Call For Final Comments on various direct connect (DC) service rate submissions of small incumbent local exchange carriers (SILECs)

On 29 April 2016, Commission staff requested additional supporting information from Brooke Telecom Co-operative Ltd., Bruce Telecom, CityWest Telephone Corporation, Cochrane Telecom Services, CoopTel, coop de telecommunication, Téléphone de Courcelles, Gosfield North Communications Co-operative Limited, Groupe Maskatel LP, Hay Communications Co-operative Limited, HuronTel, Téléphone de Lambton, The Lansdowne Rural Telephone Company Ltd., Mornington Communications Co-op Ltd., Nexicom Telecommunications, Nexicom Telephones, North Frontenac Telephone Corp., North Renfrew Telephone Company Limited o/a NRTC Communications, Quadro Communications Co-operative Inc., Roxborough Telephone Company Limited, Téléphone de St-Ephrem, La Compagnie de Téléphone de St-Victor, Tuckersmith Communications Co-operative Limited, La Compagnie de Téléphone Upton Inc., Wightman Telecom Ltd., and WTC Communications (collectively, the SILECs) in support of various DC service rate applications.
On 06 May 2016, the Commission received a request from the Canadian Independent Telephone Company Joint Task Force (the JTF) in which the JTF requested, on behalf of the 25 SILECs, an extension to the filing deadline. Specifically, the JTF requested that the deadline to file responses be extended to 30 June 2016. On 16 May 2016, Commission staff considered that, under the circumstances, it was appropriate to extend the period and granted the request. Further, Commission staff confirmed that additional process related to final comments and reply would be set at a later date.
In the interest of developing a fulsome record, Commission staff considers it appropriate that parties have an opportunity to comment on the responses filed 30 June 2016. Accordingly, any party that has already submitted comments on the above-noted files may comment on the SILECs responses by no later than 29 August 2016. The SILECs may reply to the points raised by the interveners by no later than 13 September 2016.
