Application 2016-0370-5
CBJ-FM-6 La Baie – Technical changes
- The Commission approves the application by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation to change the authorized contours of CBJ-FM-6 La Baie, Quebec, the rebroadcasting transmitter for the radio programming undertaking CBJ-FM Chicoutimi (ICI Radio-Canada Première), by increasing the average effective radiated power (ERP) from 98 to 194 watts (maximum ERP increasing from 544 to 1,138 watts) and by decreasing the effective height of antenna above average terrain from 32.1 to 25.8 metres. All other technical parameters will remain unchanged. The Commission did not receive any interventions in regard to this application.
- The licensee indicated that these technical parameters correspond to the parameters in place at the time of the transmitter’s construction, and are slightly different from those approved in CBJ-FM Chicoutimi and CBJ-FM-6 La Baie – Technical changes, Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2014-261, 22 May 2014.
- Pursuant to section 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, this authority will only be effective when the Department of Industry notifies the Commission that its technical requirements have been met and that a broadcasting certificate will be issued.
- The transmitter must be operational with implemented technical changes at the earliest possible date and in any event no later than 24 months from the date of this decision, unless a request for an extension of time is approved by the Commission before 13 September 2016. In order to ensure that such a request is processed in a timely manner, it should be submitted in writing at least 60 days before that date.
