CBJ-FM Chicoutimi and CBJ-FM-6 La Baie – Technical changes

  1. The Commission approves the application by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) to amend the broadcasting licence for the French-language radio programming undertaking CBJ-FM Chicoutimi in order to change the technical parameters of its rebroadcasting transmitter CBJ-FM-6 La Baie. CBJ-FM is part of the ICI Radio-Canada Première Network.
  2. Specifically, the CBC proposed to change the transmitter’s class from A1 to A, and the frequency from 93.7 MHz (channel 229) to 102.1 MHz (channel 271), as well as to increase the maximum effective radiated power from 85.7 to 544 watts. All other technical parameters will remain unchanged. The Commission did not receive any interventions regarding this application.
  3. The CBC stated that these changes would improve CBJ-FM-6’s coverage in the La Baie region.
  4. The Commission reminds the licensee that pursuant to section 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, this authority will only be effective when the Department of Industry notifies the Commission that its technical requirements have been met and that a broadcasting certificate will be issued.
