RE: Interrogatories relating to local and community programming.
In its three year plan, the Commission indicated its intention to assess the ongoing effectiveness of the community television policy in the 2015-2016 fiscal year. Further to the ‘’Let’s Talk TV’’ process, the Commission also published Broadcasting Regulatory Policy CRTC 2015-24 in which it stated its intention to expand its examination of the community television policy to include the overall state and funding of locally relevant and locally reflective television programming offered in the broadcasting system.
As part of this examination, the Commission is seeking input from a variety of industry players including commercial television stations, community television undertakings as well as broadcasting distribution undertakings with community channels offering community programming.
For each of your conventional television stations, please provide the information requested in Appendix A. For question # 1 in Appendix A (financial data table), please also provide an aggregated summary for all stations.
For the purpose of the appended inquiries, local programming is defined as programming produced by local stations with local personnel or programming produced by locally-based independent producers that reflects the particular needs and interests of the market’s residents.Footnote 1
Please note that aggregate data may be placed on the public record of a future proceeding.
