Dear Mr. Abbott:
Re: Accessibility of Telecommunications and Broadcasting Services, Regulatory Policy CRTC 2009-430 – VRS Requests for Information – Extension Request
This is in reference to your letter dated 18 June 2012 seeking a 30 day extension of the deadline for filing the responses to the VRS questions posed by Commission staff in its letter dated 25 May 2012 (the VRS questions).
In its letter, Bell Canada submitted that it has now successfully retained Mission Consulting to draft the responses pertaining to the VRS questions. Bell Canada also submitted that a 30 day extension of the deadline, from 26 June 2012 to 26 July 2012, would grant sufficient time for Mission Consulting to draft responses to the VRS questions and to review drafts with the Advisory Committee (consisting of Bell Canada, the Canadian Association of the Deaf , the Canadian Hearing Society , the Centre québécois de la déficience auditive, and the Ontario Association of the Deaf ), in a manner similar to the process followed for the preparation of the VRS Feasibility Study.
Commission staff considers a single 30-day extension of the deadline for filing responses to the VRS questions to be reasonable. This would allow adequate time for Mission Consulting and Bell Canada to draft all responses, and to review and seek concurrence for the draft responses with the Advisory Committee. Bell Canada is to submit responses to the VRS questions no later than 26 July 2012. This 30 day extension does not apply to the MRS related questions posed to Bell Canada by Commission staff under a separate letter.
Please contact Kay Saicheua (kay.saicheua@crtc.gc.ca) at (819) 934-1358 should you have any questions in regard to this letter.
Yours sincerely,
