The new station would operate on frequency 95.7 MHz (channel 239C1) with an average effective radiated power on 47,000 watts (maximum effective radiated power of 100,000 watts with an effective height of antenna above average terrain of 250.5 metres). | ||
The present application was filed in response to Decision 2008-288, in which the Commission stated that it would only issue a licence to CTV Limited if it submitted an application proposing the use of another FM frequency that is acceptable to both the Commission and the Department of Industry. | ||
The application by CTV Limited proposing the use of the frequency 95.7 MHz is technically mutually exclusive with the application by Harvard Broadcasting Inc., which proposes the use of the same frequency. | ||

The applicant proposes to amend the technical parameters approved in Decision 2008-98 by decreasing the average affective radiated power from 13,000 to 2,100 watts (maximum effective radiated power of 7,000 watts), by increasing the effective height of antenna above average terrain from 150 to 233 metres and by relocating the transmitter to another site situated approximately 25 kilometres to the south and closer to Peterborough. | ||
The applicant states that the population within the station's 3 mV/m contour will be reduced from 123,354 to 111,808 and the population within the stations 0.5 mV/m contour will be reduced from 285,253 to 254,822. | ||
The applicant states that these changes are necessary because they will allow the station to provide a more reliable signal to listeners in its core market. | ||
