Renaming of College Sports Television (CSTV) as CBS College Sports Network on the lists of eligible satellite services |
In Broadcasting Public Notice 2007-120, the Commission added College Sports Television (CSTV), a U.S. network devoted exclusively to broadcasting college sports programming, to the Revised list of non-Canadian programming services authorized for distribution for distribution on a digital basis (the lists). |
In a letter to the Commission dated 13 March 2008, CSTV Networks Inc. (CSTV Networks) advised that, commencing on or about 16 March 2008, College Sports Television (CSTV) would change its name to CBS College Sports Network. In that letter, CSTV Networks also indicated that the nature of the service would remain as described in the original request to add College Sports Television (CSTV) to the lists. |
Based on the assurance provided by CSTV Networks that the nature of the service has not changed, the Commission amends the lists to reflect the change of name from College Sports Television (CSTV) to CBS College Sports Network. The lists are available on the Commission's website at www.crtc.gc.ca under "Industries at a Glance" and may be obtained in hard copy upon request. |
The Commission reminds CSTV Networks that the programming rights undertakings that the company originally provided must remain in effect as a condition of CBS College Sports Network's authorization for distribution in Canada. Specifically, the service must have obtained and must remain in possession of all necessary rights for the distribution of its programming in Canada. Further, the service must not hold, nor try to obtain, nor exercise, preferential or exclusive programming rights in relation to the distribution of programming in Canada. |
