Subject: Broadcasting Notice of Public Hearing / Telecom Public Notice CRTC 2008-8 - request by the Canadian Association of Broadcasters re. filing of an undertaking
Dear Mr. Thompson:
I am writing in response to your letter of November 28th, 2008 which sets out responses to undertakings directed to the Canadian Association of Broadcasters (CAB) and some of its members during the proceeding announced in Broadcasting Notice of Public Hearing / Telecom Public Notice CRTC 2008-8.
According to your letter, the CAB proposes to file a response on behalf of its members who participated in the proceeding to the question about the financial impact of increasing the quantity of described video as proposed by Le Regroupement des aveugles et amblyopes du Québec ( RAAQ). The CAB has also asked for an extension to the deadline for submission of this information.
The Commission considers that it is appropriate to grant the CAB's request to submit a response on behalf of the named members as part of its reply submission due January 12th, 2009. As proposed by the CAB, and confirmed by the Commission, interested parties will have until February 3rd, 2009 to respond to the CAB's submission on this specific matter. The Commission considers that this provides the CAB, on behalf of the private television broadcasters participating in this proceeding, sufficient time to submit a detailed and informed response on this matter.
Sincerely,
ORIGINAL SIGNED BY
Robert A. Morin
