CFOB-FM Fort Frances - Licence renewal

The Commission renews the broadcasting licence for the English-language, commercial FM radio programming undertaking CFOB-FM Fort Frances, from 1 January 2009 to 31 August 2015.1

The Commission did not receive any interventions in connection with this application.

The licence will be subject to the terms and conditions set out in the appendix to this decision.

The Commission reminds the licensee that it is required to adhere to the requirements relating to contributions to Canadian content development set out in section 15 of the Radio Regulations, 1986, as amended by Regulations Amending the Radio Regulations, 1986, SOR/2008-177, 28 May 2008, announced in Broadcasting Public Notice 2008-67.

Because Fawcett Broadcasting Limited (Fawcett) is subject to the Employment Equity Act and files reports concerning employment equity with the department of Human Resources and Skills Development, its employment equity practices are not examined by the Commission.

At the 24 September 2008 public hearing in the National Capital Region, the Commission considered an application by Northwoods Broadcasting Limited, the parent company of Fawcett, to acquire the assets of a number of Fawcett stations, including CFOB-FM, and for broadcasting licences to continue to operation of the stations under the same terms and conditions as those in effect under the current licences.
