Further to its Broadcasting Notices of Public Hearing CRTC 2007-12 dated 31 August 2007, CRTC 2007-12-1 dated 7 September 2007, CRTC 2007-12-2 dated 12 September 2007, CRTC 2007-12-3 dated 20 September 2007 and CRTC 2007-12-4 dated 26 September 2007 relating to a Public Hearing which will be held on 30 October 2007, at 9:30 a.m., at the Best Western Inn, 2400 Highway 97 North, Kelowna, British Columbia, the Commission announces the following:

Application by Utilities Consumers' Group Society for a licence to operate an English-language FM Type B community radio programming undertaking in Whitehorse.
|
|
At the licensee's request, the frequency has been changed to 92.5 MHz (channel 223LP) with an effective radiated power of 50 watts (non-directional antenna/effective antenna height of 0 metre).
|
|
In Developmental community radio station in Whitehorse, Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2003-59, 20 February 2003, the Commission approved an application by Utilities Consumers' Group Society to operate a new developmental community radio station on frequency 92.5 MHz, in Whitehorse. The licence expires 20 February 2008.
|
|
In Community Radio Policy, Public Notice CRTC 2000-13, 28 January 2000, the Commission stated that developmental radio stations would generally be licensed for three years. At the end of this term, licensees will be expected to have filed an application with the Commission for a standard community radio licence, or to cease operations. As stated in Administrative renewal, Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2007-78, 9 March 2007, the licensee has filed an application with this intent.

Please note that the Commission will consider the interventions already received, accepted and filed on the public file for Broadcasting Notice of Public Hearing CRTC 2007-12.

Further to this amendment, the Commission will accept interventions that only relate to the change in technical parameters.
|
|
The Commission will only proceed with this application at the public hearing if advised by the Department of Industry, at least ten days prior to the hearing, that it is technically acceptable.
