Administrative renewals

1.

The Commission renews the broadcasting licences for the cable broadcasting distribution undertakings listed in the appendix to this decision from 1 September 2007 to 31 March 2008, subject to the terms and conditions in effect under the current licences.

2.

If the licence renewal applications have not been received by 31 October 2007, the Commission may not renew these licences further.

3.

This decision does not dispose of any substantive issue that may exist with respect to the renewal of these licences, and interested parties will have an opportunity to comment at the appropriate time.

The Commission also draws the licensees' attention to the current Exemption Orders regarding cable distribution undertakings as follows:
 
  • In Public Notice 2001-121 and Broadcasting Public Notice 2002-74, the Commission announced that it would exempt from licensing requirements and associated regulations, those cable systems that serve small and rural communities and have fewer than 2,000 subscribers.
 
  • In Broadcasting Public Notice 2004-39, the Commission announced that it would exempt from licensing requirements and associated regulations, those cable systems that serve between 2,000 and 6,000 subscribers.

5.

Should any of these licensed cable undertakings meet the exemption criteria, the Commission is to be advised.
