Dear Mr. Grubb:

RE:   Tariff 26 - Local Calling Expansion between the Small Independent Local Exchange Carrier Bruce Telecom (of the Municipality of Kincardine) and Huron Telecommunications Co-operative Ltd.

On 4 April 2006 , the Commission received an application by Huron Telecommunications Co-operative Ltd. (HuronTel) under cover of Tariff Notice 26 (TN 26), which proposes to expand the local calling area between Ripley Exchange (395) in the serving territory of HuronTel and Tiverton Exchanges (368 & 361) in the serving territory of Bruce Telecom.   HuronTel stated that its application was made pursuant to the procedures established in Telecom Decision CRTC 2003-56 Framework for the expansion of local calling areas , 12 September, 2003 .

On 29 November 2005 , the Commission received an application from Bruce Telecom under cover of Tariff Notice 114 proposing the same local calling area expansion.   On 11 January 2006, the Commission sent a letter to Bruce Telecom advising the company that due to a change in the date for Bruce Telecom's bill insert advising customers of the application, the Commission expected to render its decision on the company's application prior to the end of April 2006.

Commission staff will be reviewing the application from HuronTel in parallel with the application from Bruce Telecom.   Consequently, the Commission will not be issuing a decision on this application within 10 days.   The Commission expects to render its decision on TN 26 within 45 business days of receipt of this application.

Sincerely,
