Dear Mr. Hennessey:

RE:   Aliant Telecom Inc. - Tariff Notice 183

On 9 November 2005 , the Commission received an application by Aliant Telecom Inc. (Aliant Telecom) under cover of Tariff Notice 183, proposing to migrate Access Service Tariffs for Interconnection to Interexchange Carriers into the Aliant Telecom General Tariff and to remove the same items from the tariffs of the former Maritime Tel & Tel Limited, Island Telecom Inc., and NBTel Inc.

In view of the number of tariff changes being proposed, and the requirement for an amended filing, the Commission is unable to dispose of Tariff Notice 183 within 10 business days of receipt.   The Commission is continuing its analysis and expects to render its decision on the company's application within 45 business days of the application being filed.

Yours sincerely,
