CBXT Edmonton and its transmitter in Coronation - Technical change

1.

The Commission approves the application by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) to amend the broadcasting licence for its television programming undertaking CBXT Edmonton, in order to change the channel of its television transmitter in Coronation, approved in CBXT Edmonton - New transmitters in Coronation and Red Deer, Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2005-97, 7 March 2005, from channel 13 to channel 10 and to change the authorized contours by increasing the average effective radiated power from 80,600 watts to 98,000 watts.

2.

The CBC stated that it has concluded an agreement with Global Communications Limited to purchase its CKRD-TV-1 transmitter in Coronation operating on channel 10.

3.

The Commission did not receive any interventions in connection with this application.

4.

The Commission reminds the licensee that, pursuant to section 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, this authority will only be effective when the Department of Industry notifies the Commission that its technical requirements have been met, and that a broadcasting certificate will be issued.

5.

The transmitter must be operational at the earliest possible date and in any event no later than 24 months from the date of this decision, unless a request for an extension of time is approved by the Commission before 16 August 2007. In order to ensure that such a request is processed in a timely manner, it should be submitted in writing at least 60 days before that date.
