Pursuant to Access to pay telephone service, Telecom Public Notice CRTC 2002-6, dated 5 December 2002, as amended by Commission letters dated 16 January 2003, attached are the Commission's interrogatories. 

Responses to these interrogatories are to be filed with the Commission, serving copies on all parties, by 22 April 2003.  Responses are to be actually received, and not merely sent, by this date.

PAY TELEPHONE

300.  CAD submitted that a pay telephone is accessible to a deaf user if the telephone  incorporates a TTY unit.  Comment on this proposal. 

301.     Refer to PIAC's evidence wherein it reports that 71% of respondents agree that it would be a problem for them if payphones no longer accepted coins.  Comment on the above with respect to public interest pay telephones. 

302.     Fully describe the process in place in your company to dispose of requests to install, remove and relocate pay telephones. 

303.     List the exchanges in which your company does not curently provide pay telephone service.  Your response should include the reason for not providing pay telephone service in each of those exchanges.  Also indicate whether your company declined, over the last two years, a request to install a pay telephone in that exchange, specifying the reason for declining. 

304.     Using your response to interrogatory ALIANT(CRTC)5Dec02-102, for each of the years 1999 to 2002, as of 30 June, indicate the proportion, per rate band, of pay telephones decommissioned in your territory for low usage and where costs exceeded revenues.

305.     For each of the years 1999 to 2002, provide to the Commission a copy of all the complaints you received with respect to pay telephone service, along with your company's response to the complainants. 

306.     Refer to paragraph 18 of PIAC's evidence.  Provide the percentage of pay telephones in service in your territory that do not accept coins, per rate band.  Include the reason for such a situation. 

307.     Using your response to interrogatory ALIANT(CRTC)5Dec02-100, provide, for each of the years 1999 to 2002, as of 30 June, the proportion of public and semi-public pay telephones in service in your territory.

 b)   For each of the years 1999 to 2002, indicate the number of pay telephones that have been removed from service for their parts.  Also provide the number of locations where the removal by the Companies of those pay telephones resulted in total removal of pay telephone service.
