CKWR-FM Waterloo - Technical change

1.

The Commission approves the application by Wired World Inc. for a licence amendment authorizing it to change the official contour of the radio programming undertaking CKWR-FM Waterloo.

2.

The licensee indicated that the proposed change would result from an increase in the station's effective radiated power from 2,400 watts to 15,200 watts. The power increase would significantly increase the station's official contour, thereby improving the quality of the signal in Cambridge and Guelph, as well as reducing the level of interference caused by radio station WKSE Niagara Falls, New York.

3.

The Commission did not receive any interventions in connection with this application.

4.

The Department of Industry (the Department) has advised the Commission that, while this application is conditionally technically acceptable, it will only issue a broadcasting certificate when it has determined that the proposed technical parameters will not create any unacceptable interference with aeronautical NAV/COM services.

5.

The Commission reminds the licensee that, pursuant to section 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, this authority will only be effective when the Department notifies the Commission that its technical requirements have been met, and that a broadcasting certificate will be issued.
