  Application 2003-0016-1
Broadcasting Public Notice CRTC 2003-12

  CBKT Regina - New transmitters

1.

The Commission approves the application by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) to amend the broadcasting licence for the television programming undertaking CBKT Regina in order to operate transmitters in Norquay and Hudson Bay.

2.

The transmitters will enable viewers in Norquay and Hudson Bay to receive the programming of the CBC's English-language television network originating from CBKT Regina. The transmitters will operate as follows:

Call sign Location

Effective radiated power (watts)

Channel

CKOS-TV-2 Hudson Bay

420

9

CKOS-TV-1 Norquay

15,000

13

3.

The Commission did not receive any interventions in connection with this application.

4.

The above-noted transmitters are currently operated by the CBC as a radiocommunication distribution undertaking (RDU) for the distribution of the programming service of CKOS-TV Yorkton, Saskatchewan. CKOS-TV was previously licensed to CTV Television Inc. In CBKT Regina - New transmitters, Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2002-301, 10 October 2002, the Commission approved the purchase of CKOS-TV by the CBC and its addition to the licence of CBKT Regina, as a transmitter of the Regina station. The CBC noted that it is thus no longer necessary to hold a separate RDU licence for the above-noted transmitters, and has asked that the licence be revoked.

5.

Accordingly, the Commission, pursuant to sections 9(1)(e) and 24(2) of the Broadcasting Act, revokes the broadcasting licence issued to the CBC for the above-mentioned RDU.
